From Gastric Sleeve to Lasting Change: A Weight Loss Success Story

June 8, 2026

Many people who struggle with their weight have tried countless diets, exercise programmes, and even medical interventions in their search for lasting change. For some, the journey can feel exhausting and disheartening.

This client’s story is a wonderful example of how addressing the mind, as well as behaviours and habits, can create meaningful and sustainable change.

A Lifetime of Struggling with Weight

My client, a 38-year-old woman, had been significantly overweight for as long as she could remember. After years of trying different approaches, she reached a point where she felt she had run out of options.

In desperation, she underwent gastric sleeve surgery. This procedure reduces the size of the stomach, meaning only small amounts of food can be eaten at one time. Initially, she lost weight following the operation.

However, while the surgery changed the physical capacity of her stomach, it did not address her relationship with food or the underlying thought patterns that had developed over many years. Before long, she found herself returning to old habits, eating frequent small amounts of unhealthy foods, and gradually regaining the weight she had lost.

When she came to see me, she described herself as being at her "last resort." This is something I hear quite often—and while it can feel overwhelming for the client, I always welcome the opportunity to help someone find a new path forward.

Introducing the Hypnotic Weight Loss Jab Programme

The hypnotic weight loss jab programme uses guided hypnosis and powerful therapeutic suggestions designed to support positive changes in eating habits, motivation, and self-belief.

One aspect of the programme involves the suggestion that the client has received an injection—or perhaps a drink—containing an amazing golden liquid that helps them release unwanted fat and make healthier choices.

Consciously, clients understand that no physical injection has taken place. However, the unconscious mind responds strongly to imagery, suggestion, and expectation, helping to reinforce positive behavioural changes.

Early Signs of Success

When this client returned for her second session, the difference was already noticeable.

Not only could I see that she had lost weight, but she also appeared brighter, happier, and more energetic. There was a confidence in her that had not been there before.

She was delighted to discover she had lost half a stone and felt genuinely proud of her achievement.

Even more importantly, she reported that she was beginning to eat more regularly and mindfully, making healthier food choices and drinking significantly more water. These changes were becoming natural rather than forced.

She also shared that she was now the lightest she had been since she was around 17 years old.

Looking Beyond Food

As with many clients, our work went far beyond simply discussing food and weight.

Over the course of the programme, we explored her past experiences and relationship with food, as well as the impact that family dynamics and lifelong beliefs had on how she viewed herself and her body.

Often, lasting change happens when we understand and address the emotional factors that sit beneath unwanted habits.

A Life-Changing Transformation

Three months after beginning her programme, this client had lost an incredible two stone and still had two sessions remaining.

But the most remarkable changes were not just physical.

At her most recent appointment, she told me she was going shopping with her daughter to buy clothes for herself for the very first time. Previously, she had avoided shopping on the high street because she felt embarrassed about her size.

When she arrived for that session, she was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, looking confident, comfortable, and self-assured.

She had transformed the way she thought about food, hydration, movement, and self-care. More importantly, she had developed a healthier relationship with herself.

Today, she describes herself as feeling healthier, more energised, and more positive about the future than she has in years.

Could Hypnotherapy Help You?

Every client's journey is unique, and results will vary from person to person. However, many people find that when they address the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours connected to weight management, positive change becomes much easier to maintain.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I work with clients both online and face-to-face, helping them develop healthier habits, greater confidence, and a more positive relationship with themselves.

If you would like to learn more about my hypnotic weight loss programme and whether it may be suitable for you, I would be delighted to hear from you.

When you hear the word hypnotherapy, what comes to mind? Perhaps you picture someone swinging a pocket watch, making someone cluck like a chicken on a stage, or maybe you simply think of stop-smoking or weight-loss programmes. These are some of the perceptions people have about hypnosis — but they don't tell the whole story. As a clinical hypnotherapist , I use hypnosis as part of a much broader therapeutic approach. Hypnotherapy can be a powerful tool for helping people understand themselves, change unhelpful patterns and work through difficulties that may have been affecting their lives for many years. So, what actually is hypnosis? Hypnosis is a very natural, focused state of mind. We all experience similar states at various times — perhaps when we become completely absorbed in a book, lose track of time while driving a familiar route, or become so immersed in something that the outside world seems to fade away. In therapy, we use this focused state deliberately. I often describe hypnotherapy as having many of the elements you would expect from psychotherapy, with an additional tool: hypnosis . This can allow us to work with thoughts, emotions, behaviours and deeply established patterns in a different and often very powerful way. And importantly, you remain in control throughout. Hypnosis isn't about someone taking over your mind or making you do things against your will. Hypnotherapy isn't just about stopping smoking or losing weight Of course, hypnotherapy can be very effective for issues such as smoking cessation and weight management. But that is only a small part of the work I do. People come to me with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, confidence and self-esteem issues, phobias, unwanted habits and the effects of difficult or traumatic experiences. I also work with people who are dealing with complex trauma and very difficult emotional experiences , and with clients who have experienced suicidal thoughts. These are not issues that can be dealt with by simply giving someone a few positive suggestions while they are in hypnosis. They require sensitivity, understanding, appropriate therapeutic techniques and, above all, a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. Hypnosis is one of the tools I can use within that process. >>> Learn more about Hypnotherapy <<< Don't dismiss hypnotherapy before you've discovered what it can do for you Perhaps you've considered hypnotherapy in the past but thought, "That's not really for someone like me." Or perhaps you've tried other approaches and are wondering whether hypnotherapy could offer you something different. My advice is simple: don't dismiss it until you've found out more. Every person is different, and every therapeutic journey is different. During an initial consultation, we can talk about what you're experiencing, what you'd like to change and whether I feel hypnotherapy is an appropriate therapy for you. There is no pressure and no obligation to book treatment. If you're curious about whether hypnotherapy could help you, please get in touch and arrange a free consultation. It could be the first step towards understanding what's keeping you stuck and discovering a different way forward.
